Pueblo West Xeriscape Garden

One of the finest gems of Pueblo West. If you are wondering about beautiful alternatives to the stone or lawn in your yard, this is a great place to see them, before clicking the buy button to make a hasty purchase you might later regret. Where else can you see so many trees, cacti, succulents, grasses and flowers in an environment that is pretty much the same as what's in your yard? Stop back often to see what is flowering throughout the year. One way to know what you like, when it flowers, how much space is required, and what good companion plants might be. What is xeriscaping? For us here in Pueblo West, the topsoil can often be absent or very shallow at best, and we are lucky if we get a total of a dozen inches of rain per year - it's a dry (in Greek, xēros) climate, so when we choose the most suitable plants for our landscapes, we are xeri-scaping! The Pueblo West Xeriscape Garden is run by volunteers with support from The Pueblo West Metropolitan District which provides support for a drip irrigation system and much more. Want to volunteer? Come get your hands dirty on Friday mornings from 8-11am on Fridays during the growing season. Email us at cattailgardeners@gmail.com for more information. A full decade's worth of photos was generously supplied by Mary Lavan, one of our dedicated volunteer xeriscapers. We hope that you enjoy our Xeriscape Garden photos.
